In September 2022, the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Australia, on Wangal Country, did showcase a uniquely Australian tone thanks to a two-year effort led by the Local Organizing Committee and FIBA. With the guidance of Campfire x, an Indigenous creative agency, they did enhance cultural engagement across all aspects of the event, beginning September 22, to create a lasting impact for basketball and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The engagement program, including the event logo, was recently launched on Gadigal Country during a pickup game at Alexandria Basketball Stadium with former national team players Abby Cubillo and Bawali Bayles.
